Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho, known for his massive success with Parasite, has announced that the countdown for his long-awaited film Mickey 17 has finally begun. The experienced director has explained the reason behind the film’s delays for the first time.
Bong acknowledged that Mickey 17 will be released later than expected but reassured fans that the final result aligns perfectly with his vision. Here are the details…
Mickey 17 will showcase the director’s original vision
In a recent interview, Bong stated that the delay stemmed from his desire to maintain complete creative control over the project, a privilege that is not always afforded to directors.
Bong said, “I was allowed to edit the film exactly how I wanted from start to finish,” and expressed that despite the lengthy editing process, it was completed “smoothly and respectfully.” This delay helped ensure that the director’s original vision remained intact without compromises dictated by the studios.
Adapted from Edward Ashton’s novel, Mickey 17 tells the story of a human clone, played by Robert Pattinson, who is sent on a dangerous mission to a frozen planet.
The film features an impressive cast, including experienced actors Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni Collette. This highly anticipated project has become one of the most ambitious science fiction films of the year.
The release date for Mickey 17 is set for January 17, 2025, and it is expected to be screened in Turkey as well.
